Manhattan Magazine | Sunflower Publishing in Lawrence, Kansas

While things have been on the quite side online, they have certainly been the opposite in reality. At the end of this passed year Jake and I met with two amazing ladies from Sunflower Publishing Company to discuss advertising in the Manhattan Magazine. When we moved to Manhattan all of our friends talked so highly of this publication, so we thought we’d see what it was all about. We chatted over coffee with Joanne & Nadia and immediately became friends within our little meeting. Within a few days we received an email from Nadia sending out an invitation to become a part of their photography team for the Manhattan publication. We said yes of course, and now we’d love to share our current features with you all!

Our very first assignment was to photograph the Mathis’s family who just opened a new treatment center, Katie’s Way, in honor their late daughter. Their story is incredibly powerful and worth the read. This was much different than shooting a wedding, and was definitely a great start for our first magazine shoot. We felt very honored to be a part of that, and couldn’t believe it made the cover! Our second assignment that was just released this passed week and we made the cover again! Not going to lie, I squealed like a school girl when I found out! Dell Ann Upp of Straight Upp Events was highlighted for her wedding expertise. She set up a beautiful wedding scenery at her farm home just south of town. We had several local vendors donate their beautiful talents for this, including Lauren Heim, 4 Cakes, & Kistner’s Flowers. The best part of it all was that our best friends got to model for us! Photographers, next time you organize a styled shoot let me just tell you that your life will be so much easier if you use a married couple as your models! Their love was so easy to capture, which led me to spending more time photographing and less time directing! Thank you so much Rachel & Ben! You two are so great! Click below to browse the magazine online.

Thank you SO MUCH to all of you amazing Sunflower Publishing employees for transforming our photographs into print. We are so glad that we have found such an amazing group of people to work with, and can’t wait to start on the next issue! Nadia & Joanne, you ladies are seriously incredible and we are so thankful for you both!
